The Council of Europe

For several years The European Council has been a place of information and lobbying for the kurdish cause.

Several political parties including the National Congress of Kurdistan have been informing the European Council and its Parliamentary Assembly.

Turkey, being one of the founding members of the European Council, is expected to apply the decisions taken by the latter.

Instances linked to the European Council such as, European human rights court, parliamentary Assembly, Local and Regional Councils Congress, have on several occasions underlined the values of the Eu Council regarding resolutions treating the kurdish issue.

There have been several decisions taken by the Eu Councils Parliamentary Assembly concerning the kurdish issue since 1993.

A resolution has been adopted in 2006 by the Parliamentary Assembly concerning the cultural and political rights of the kurdish people.

It is important to be reminded that since the military coup in turkey in 1980, there has been a monitorum ever since, and only now is Turkey in a post moniturum phase.
